With shoppers feeling the pinch a recent report by Verdict Consulting says that shoppers are abandoning their usual shops in search of better deals.

An overhaul of the basket for a couple of our clients has seen the number of phone calls into their call centre drop by 50% and retention through the checkout process (from basket to success page) improve by more than 25%.

Figures like these should make online retailers turn their efforts to their websites rather than sustaining the spiralling and unsustainable costs of pay per click and affiliate advertising.
